At the time of writing there is no Spider-Man 2 New Game Plus mode available, with it currently planned for an upcoming patch in early 2024. This may be a case where Insomniac is invoking the name of something with deep significance to the Spider-Man franchise while going in its own direction. Still, as Doctor Octopus returns to threaten the city once again, we may see a scene inspired by The Amazing Spider-Man #33, where Peter has to dig deep and find new reserves of strength. And it’s always possible that Spider-Man 3 could undo Aunt May’s death, just like the comics.

Fans have had success getting their pleas heard in the past, so there's a chance that Sony might listen. Sony will not only have to bring Garfield back in, but they'll have to find a story good enough to warrant all the hype. Some say that they should give Garfield's Spider-Man a sendoff like 2017's Logan, which isn't exactly the worst idea.
